Mad River Retreats F.A.Q.

Q. How do you get here?
A. You can fly into ACV (Arcata-Mckinleyville Airport) and get picked up.
You can also drive into the area and be picked up from Arcata or Eureka.
Approximately driving times:

• 7 hours north from San Francisco.
• 2 and 1/2 west from Redding, CA.
• 1 and 1/2 from Fortuna.
• 4 and 1/2 hours South from Medford, OR

Q. Are children welcome?
A. Yes, definitely! This is a kid-friendly environment.

Q. What if I have dietary needs/restrictions?
A. We provide vegetarian meals. We can adjust to accommodate most dietary needs upon request.

Q. Is the river safe?
A. Yes, the river is safe to swim in, or cross. There is easy-access to shallow areas. Boating/Kayaking are also available.

Q. What should I bring?
A. A packing list will be provided upon registration.

Q. What activities are available in your stay?
A. Many activities such as:

• Early-morning bird-watching
• Hiking in the old-growth forest
• Pontoon-boating on Ruth Lake
• Relaxing on the river
• Rafting/Kayaking
• Reading or sleeping in hammocks
• Hot-tub/Sauna
• Star-gazing
• Story-telling around camp fires in the evening

Q. What if I need to cancel?
A. You will receive a full-refund in cases of Fire or road-closures. A full-refund will also be made if cancelling more than 2 weeks before the start date.

Q. Is there good drinking water?
A. Yes, drinking water comes from our own spring and is carefully filtered in several locations around the property.
